COLORBOND steel Ultra Port Kembla baths

COLORBOND® steel, COLORBOND® steel Matt, COLORBOND® Coolmax® steel, COLORBOND® Metallic steel, and ZINCALUME® steel have all been developed to provide design versatility and to suit a wide range of environments.

In addition to these materials, which are suited to most locations, COLORBOND® Ultra steel and COLORBOND® Stainless steel are available to provide enhanced corrosion protection in more demanding environments, like those by the sea or in areas prone to industrial or chemical fumes and fallout.

COLORBOND® Ultra steel is the product BlueScope recommend for Severe Marine environments and COLORBOND® Stainless Steel is especially designed for Very Severe Marine environments.

Which steel material should I choose?

The following tables show which materials might best be suited to your needs, depending on your location. Table 1, shows the products BlueScope recommend for roofing according to each Marine Environment Severity category, including for Severe Marine and Very Severe Marine environments. Table 2, shows the products BlueScope recommend for walling based on distances from any Marine Environment.

Note these are general guidelines only, do not take into account individual circumstances and may not be applicable in all cases. For industrial applications it is always recommended that you contact BlueScope for further information.

Roofing

COLORBOND® Ultra steel is BlueScope's recommended roofing material for environments where there may still be a smell of salt or salt spray in the air – approximately 100 to 200 metres from breaking surf. Similarly, the effects of industrial emissions (fumes and/or particulate fallout) are typically lessened 100 to 200 metres from the source. COLORBOND® Stainless steel is BlueScope's recommended roofing material for coastal areas where there is a constant salty smell and salt spray in the air – within 100 metres from breaking surf - or within close proximity to industrial emissions.

For walling applications COLORBOND® Ultra steel is BlueScope's recommended product from 500 to 1000 metres from marine influences. COLORBOND® Stainless steel is BlueScope's recommended product up to 500 metres from breaking surf or calm marine locations.
